Expiry tracking

One expiry date per product, alerts before it is too late, an automatic near-expiry discount and clean write-offs.

Packaged food expires, and expired stock is money in the bin. Bola 8 POS captures the expiry date when you receive a product and then keeps reminding you while there is still time to sell it.

Key capabilities

  • Expiry date at receiving. Each line of a shipment carries the date on the box. The product keeps one active expiry date.
  • Alert window. In Settings → Near Expiry, set how many days ahead counts as near expiry. The default is two weeks.
  • Alerts where you work. A count badge on the Inventory tile on Home and in the sidebar, the Near Expiry tab in Inventory sorted soonest first, and a notice at checkout.
  • Automatic near-expiry discount. Set a percentage in the same settings tab and checkout applies it on its own to anything inside the window.
  • Write-offs with a reason. When something does expire, adjust it out with the reason Expired. The Expiry-Loss report adds it up.
